Artist Statement:
Originally a pastel artist, Belgian painter Florimond Dufoor worked primarily from observation of still life’s through fabric, sets of matters and transparencies with soft color tones. The artist has continued evolving his style by adding the element of collages that he calls "pieces of everyday life". This period of his work along with his recent travels to the United States and contact with more examples of paintings by artists including De Kooning, Motherwell and Pollock, will mark the passage to a more abstract and lyrical type of oil painting with hot color tones.
Slowly getting away from the observation of nature, Florimond Dufoor now uses the "surface" to feed his more richly graphic paintings. His painting are now reinforced by this fabric which has become the most interesting of his work to date. Thus, his way of working resides essentially in “painting”, the act of the painter, more the gestural act than the imitation of different objects, and in colors which are simply more powerful.
Florimond Dufoor works easily with rhythm and fluidity through different media and colors. He prepares his own colors and media and creates his own range of colors which vary from light tones to boldly ...
