Artist Statement for Claudia Cabrera

I have been making art ever since I can remember. I started out drawing and painting,moved on to an array of printmaking processes, then got stuck on first small scale and later large scale metalwork, finally concentrating on Bronze sculpture and moldmaking. Because bronzecasting can be very limiting at times (not everybody has had the luck of running their own foundry for 10 years like me and my bronze buddies)as far as facility and also color vibrancy goes, I was looking for something that included fabrication with fire, that was also very colorful and could be done in my tiny apartment, and so I got a book one day and taught myself how to make glass beads. I've been at it for quite a few years now with no end in sight. My pieces have allowed me to participate in several Open Studios exhibitions and are owned by folks in Kyoto,Holland, Austria, Germany, France, Spain, Austin TX, New Orleans etc. They are all over the world.
