Artist Statement:
My work is more often than not
representational, small and
illustrative. Often
allegorical, magical things
sometimes happen in them.
Primarily, I am a painter, but
lately, I have reacquainted
myself with pencil drawings:
graphite in particular. I have
been exploring the different
qualities of various lead
softnesses and hardnesses,
often laying down soft lead
and then burnishing it with an
F or an HB over top. I also
work in coloured art pencil.
When I paint, I use oil or
acrylic paint on primed paper,
canvas, and masonite. Oil is
becoming my paint of choice as
it allows a softness which is
a quality that gives greater
atmoshpere to my work. ...
