Artist Statement for G. A. Jank
|
|
|
My work is reflective of my surroundings, a combination of iron, stone, glass, and occasionally, crystal.
Each piece is unique, a timeless representation of feeling, mood, or hidden message. Most of the metal in my art is found strewn about the shores of the Bay of Fundy. Metal shaped by nature in the ocean, or cast away into a pile in a meadow or a field. Reclaimed, then turned into a work of art.
Some pieces are static, frozen in time. Some, encapsulating subliminal motion.
On a different level, my work carries a message about the mechanics and the power of nature, and where humanity must live in harmony with things around them.
