He studied art, art history, and spiritual formation at The University of Texas at Arlington (B.F.A.) Regent College (M.C.S.) and Emory University (Ph.D.) He taught art and spiritual formation at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama until 2004 when he turned full time to the making of his own art. He now lives in Birmingham with his wife, Deborah, who is a photographer, and their son, Zachary.
