Artist Statement:
Gary is a self-styled,
award winning artist, living
in Naples, Florida, who has a
passion to render Historical
Native Americans in his art.
He has developed an
exceptionally detailed style
of rendering, combined with a
unique way of blending
contrasts, both philosophycal
and artistic, to achieve an
extremely defined image of
content and character.
Although Gary is not Native
American himself, he has been
impacted and influenced from a
very young age by Native
Americans. As a young boy, he
developed a relationship with
a Native American neighbor,
who became a father figure
towards him. This gentle, good
hearted soul mentored him in
many ways, from helping him
with school projects and
homework, to teaching him
traditional leathercraft
skills, as well as other
Native American crafts. But
more important, this
individual imparted to him a
cheerful and gentle philosophy
about life.
The effects of this Native
Americans influence in Gary's
life, has caused Gary to
succeed in his art, by drawing
on a perspective of truth in
more than one way,... both
artistically and
philosophically, thereby
producing evocative,
historical renditions of
Native Americans. His
renditions compel the observer
to be drawn in to an ever
widening circle of...
