Welcome to Guillermo Matta's Portfolio. Browse Matta's body of work: Beginning in the 1950's and influenced by Abstract Expressionism especially Mark Rothko, Vasily Kandinsky, Klee, and Roberto Matta, I paint expressive color abtract geometric forms between the stasis and motion, the architectural and the hard-edge.
My favorite working materials are colored engineering drawings sometimes glued onto canvas. The rhythms of the geometry create a mood to generate small elements that I contour, isolating them with specific color. Though small, these elements are very important for the entire composition.
