Artist Statement for George Buck
|
|
|
Artist / Oil Painter George Milo Buck, born in California in 1952. Has lived and studied in France. Bachelor of Arts degree San Jose State.
Has painted many musician 'live' portraits and music portraits from photographs. Many works are signed by the subjects including: The Neville Brothers, Jimi Hendrix Band (signed by Redding), Youssou N'Dour, Bonnie Raitt, Dr. John, Joan Baez, Tito Puente, Bereli Legrene, Cesaria Evora, babatunde Olatunji, James Carter, Rachelle Farrell, Mary McPartland, Charlie Hunter, Average White Band, Charles Lloyd, Steve Lacey etc. Others include: Janis Joplin, D'Jango Reinhardt, Johnny Cash, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, John Lennon, Jim Morrison, Professor Longhair, Bob Dylan, Dizzy Gillespie, Monk Beaudreau, Eric Dolphy and many, many MORE!
Also political paintings, landscapes, 'historical' figures, land and sea animals flora and other nature.
Buck resides in Santa Cruz and is Devoted to Creating Art.
