Gerald Hartwig's quest is to visualize the WOMAN of the 3RD millenium. What is the mystery of a woman to man, what are the multiple facettes she lives? She is a Saint and a Sinner- at times clear and present , at times almost vanishing into the background.
Who are the faces of the new woman?
As a visual artist I can only offer a glimpse of something that eludes clear definition or description. Rather than me being the motivator of the image, the motif beckons me to be discovered and I become its translator. What moves me, moves through me and ends up on a surface, a framework of sorts.
As a creator I often feel like a mapmaker, an illustrator of spirit and feelings. My subjects are never predetermined, they reveal themselves through silent observation and emotional experience.
I enter a dialog with Self, with feelings, with sexuality, with women and events that shape my existence.
I aim to clarify and bring to light the healing essence cloaked in the chaos of our world.
