Artist Statement

I am a 78 year old Canadian woman. I began painting when I retired 20 odd years ago. I fell in long lasting love with Art! I am basically self taught although I studied under Knox Martin at the Art Student's League in New York for 6 months the winter of 1992/3. This wonderful man said "you are a primitive painter - all the masters were primitives - stay away from school, school will kill you - you have what it takes - when you go home paint every day all day!" I have followed his advice to the best of my ability. My painting of "Jessie in her Brown Boots" has just been chosen to hang from a lamppost in Collingwood this summer! I am thrilled!
