| Why Did You Become An Artist |
GK-ART is a gallery situated in Kolding (Denmark), and has been establisshed more than 30 years ago by Günter Kreil. Günter Kreil is of German origin, but during the 2nd world war he left his country for political reasons, but before settling down in Denmark he travelled the the whole world, and his early pictures being both of Modern as well as Naturalistic Art was clearly influenced by his background in Germany at the time, as well as his impressions obtained from different cultures all over the world. GK-ART do to-day enjoy recognition of its art in the Scandinavian countries, as well as in areas such as North America, the Pacific, but also an area such as the Far East seems to show a growing interest for the European style of Art. GK-ART has over the the years participated in numerous exhibitions both domestically and abroad, and the foundation of the customer-base to-day has gradually changed from being only to individuals now being larger organizations within the INSTITUTIONAL and INDUSTRIAL market segment. GK-ART has to-day been streamlined to be a professional partner in the latter segment, and is to-day and will in the future invest further efforts to enlarge its engagement in this segment.

| Your Personal Biography |
I’ve been a painter all my life as long as I can remember. I was born in 1939 in Hamburg, Germany. When I was 20, I decided to immigrate to Australia since that country intrigued me with its open spaces kindling my interesting landscape painting.
My paintings, while in Australia gave me the opportunity to explore the desert and get a feel for the native flavor of its people. While there, for two and a half years, the south sea islands of the Pacific became a fixation in my mind. My first stop was Tahiti with its lush and colorful scenery and the genuine friendliness of its people.In general, the experiences gained during my extensive travels all over the world are part of my paintings. The Polynesian islands, however, were the most significant influence in my artistic career.
Currently my home and studio are in Denmark ,where I have lived for the last 35 years but my travels also took me to Africa, the Mediterranean countries, West Indies and South America.
My travels also included the United States. Besides visiting all the major cities my interest centered on the southern states such as Alabama, Louisiana, Florida and the Carolinas. Several of my landscape paintings show the beauty of Alabama. Having friends in Alabama enabled me to visit that state several times over the past years.
Most of my paintings are done in acrylics or oil, although watercolor is also one of my favorite mediums.
My work has been widely shown in Denmark and other major European cities.
