Artist Statement:
Upon surrendering to my clay
with a playful spirit I have
come to find one of the
greatest pleasures of my daily
work: an awareness of the
“here and now”. In this state
of consciousness I enter a
realm of magical reality where
limitless possibilities await
me.
It is foremost a need to
communicate with myself, with
my true self. It is the joy of
this connection, of the
weakening of that inner wall
that divides me from my core,
that fuels my enthusiasm,
imagination, and creativity.
The force of this joy leads me
on a path of increasingly
deeper, more integrated, and
all-encompassing goals.
The nude figures in my work
represent my inner nakedness,
they invite all beings to
invoke their own process of
discovery, their own contact
with themselves. I attempt to
challenge and permanently
weaken the dividing wall of
the human soul, the barrier
that universally resists the
shedding of doubts,
weaknesses, and vulnerability,
and leads us to feel that it
is dangerous to step into the
light, expose oneself, simply
to be. Upon reaching that
inner hollowness, nakedness,
we can allow the divine
substance of the Creator, the
Spirit, to fill us and ...
