Artist Statement:
I love the idea of being able
to invoke good emotions in
others and my art is partly an
attempt to do just that. I
have always loved the
atmosphere of the coast with
all its drama and beauty.
There's the tension element as
it ever changes yet still
remains the same year in year
out. The tide has washed away
yesterday's footsteps and the
sand is fresh again.
As people we subconsciously or
consciously long to be renewed
and refreshed from the cares
of the day and all that the
world throws at us. I like to
paint moments that have
inspired me and find that I'm
often drawn to coastal related
subjects. If that inspiration
can be passed on to others
then that's a bonus.
I paint in acrylic quite
simply because I like the rich
colors and don't have to wait
long for the paint to dry.
Since I'm pretty new to
painting (only began in Summer
2007) I realize there's much
to learn and see great benefit
in taking critique and
inspiration from others.
