Artist Statement:
For a long time I had much
sadness inside of me that I
really didn't know how to deal
with. I felt that I had no
reason to be sad, and had no
right plaguing others with my
deepest fears. So, instead of
talking to people or writing
in a journal, I turned to my
art. I became obsessed with
the self-portrait. Every piece
was me trying to figure out
just who exactly I was and
what the hell I was doing.
Fortunatley, I am a much
happier person these days.
This does not change my
interest in the
self-portrait.. merely
deepens it. The contrast
between my former self and the
one I am becoming is even more
facinating to me. I see a lot
of change and growth as person
in my art... but that is
because it is all me, whether
I intended it to be or not.
I hope one day that I can look
back at my body of work and
understand it all... but for
everyone else... I just hope
that you enjoy what you
see....
