Artist Statement:
Painting has been my hobby
since my younger days, but I
started painting seriously in
1997, soon after my
retirement. Since then
creating art holds the key to
my life’s journey. Art is a
form of self-expression that
allows me to reach out to the
world surrounding me. Always
experimental, my
discriminating approaches
often lead me to new worlds of
thought guided by the images
materializing before my eyes.
My work is contemporary and,
as you see, I love color, and
that is my primary tool of
expression. Intense color is
the one characteristic that
all my artworks in numerous
styles and media have in
common. I use color in
abstract pieces to show
balance, transformation, and
interaction of energies. These
pieces are created in many
layers. Something of each
layer is allowed to show
through to increase the sense
of multiple dimensions. I do
collages and watercolor too,
but for me, more deep feelings
come out with acrylic or batik
painting. I now process my art
work by manipulating my
paintings and drawings with a
computer. With those media I
can fulfill the strong
contrast I work with, and
which are part of my style....
