Artist Statement:
The trick is finding the inspiration strong enough to propel me through the process of creation. Mistaking an idea for enthusiasm results in the drab drawn out dilemma of wasting paint. So I wait, sometimes hours or days, there is no point in painting when the propulsion is not there. It will not be true, it will not manifest the energy I seek. This “energy” is obvious when my mind is free, when I can capture the world at it’s brightest and most beautiful. Liken it to the gloaming hour, when a song changes your mood, or when a rush of adrenalin suddenly charges your internal batteries. This charge causes buildings to shimmer, a human face to be more lovely, and even the air sweeter to breathe. This state of consciousness is what I intend to project into my paintings, in an attempt to uplift the spectator, if just for a moment....
