Artist Statement:
The trick is finding the
inspiration strong enough to
propel me through the process
of creation. Mistaking an
idea for enthusiasm results in
the drab drawn out dilemma of
wasting paint. So I wait,
sometimes hours or days, there
is no point in painting when
the propulsion is not there.
It will not be true, it will
not manifest the energy I
seek. This “energy” is
obvious when my mind is free,
when I can capture the world
at it’s brightest and most
beautiful. Liken it to the
gloaming hour, when a song
changes your mood, or when a
rush of adrenalin suddenly
charges your internal
batteries. This charge causes
buildings to shimmer, a human
face to be more lovely, and
even the air sweeter to
breathe. This state of
consciousness is what I intend
to project into my paintings,
in an attempt to uplift the
spectator, if just for a
moment....
