| Your Personal Biography |
Helen Closs is an Abstract Expressionist painter who was born in Poughkeepsie, New York in 1967. She majored in Art in High School. She is in the process of getting a BA in Art from Empire State College.
She received a BA in Communication from SUNY New Paltz and an AAS degree in Educational Interpreting from the National Technical Institute of the Deaf. She has worked as an interpreter and teacher assistant.
Later, Closs decided to follow her dream to paint. She took classes with Phyllis R. Bailey of the Farmington River School of Art. She was greatly encouraged there and began to show her work with the Connecticut Artist Network. She received the Holbein Award and Best of Show through this group. In 2006 she participated in Everson Museum of Art Biennial.
Helen Closs lives in upstate New York with her husband and two sons.
