Helen Musser was born in Wilson, Oklahoma, September22, 1941.
She is married, has two sons, and lives in Terrell, Texas. As
she was busy with her family in the 70's, she painted and took workshops when there was time. In 1986, she attended Eastfield
Community College, taking drawing under Brent Matzen in Mesquite, Texas. In 1999 she took painting classes at Southern Methodist University with several instructors. In the fall of 1999, she was privileged to sit in on painting classes under Associate Professor Barnaby Fitzgerald. In 2000 she studied encaustic painting under Juvenile Reis.
She exhibited in local art shows and in Dallas from the early 80's-2002.Terrell Alliance for Education and the Arts sponsered her first individual exhibition in April, 2002. She received the Ramon Froman Award from Artist and Craftsmen Associated , an art guild in Dallas, Texas, in 1995. She has been published in the Terrell Tribune.
Her focus has been to project the spirit of man through her art; working with watercolor, oil, and encaustic. She is currently working on a series of paintings entitled Basics; using a variety of subjects to portray the basic needs and relationships in life.
