Reviews for Billy Lindsay:
|
|
|
I have lots more on press coverage besides this,so if you enjoy reading newspaper articles,I have several from different newspapers
written mostly about my lifesize figures and where they have been
on display.Contact me.
POSTAL QUEEN - Bill Lindsay poses with his paper mache
and fiberglass sculpture of Marilyn Monroe in the lobby
of the Bridgeport Post Office where Lindsay works as a
clerk."Marilyn" will go on display at the Effingham Post
Office to commemorate the issuance of a Marilyn Monroe
stamp on June 1. Lindsay is an artist in his spare time,
and he enjoys experimenting in different mediums such as
caricature sketching and wax molding.Lately he has been
working with paper mache and fiberglass. His first model
was Elvis Presley.------Lawrenceville Daily Record May 1995.
ELVIS STATUE MAKES MANY BELIEVE IT'S REALLY THE 'KING'-
Doubt those crazy tabloid headlines no more!Elvis really is alive, and I saw him.I was eastbound on Jefferson Street in Lawrenceville in my little red car one morning when I pulled up in front of the CIPS office. There he was.The king.Dressed in a cream colored, bell bottomed
pant suit, studded with glittering rhinestones,Elvis Presley was standing in the big glass display window at CIPS.
Being the dedicated newpaper reporter,I had to check it out.Yep its Elvis, the lady who answered the phone said.
Apparently local artist Bill Lindsay constructed the head of the mighty statue of plaster of Paris and the clothing of fiberglass. The result--a startlingly realistic version of Elvis himself. How realistic?Realistic enough to stop traffic."We've gotten a lot of looks this week," the CIPS telephone
lady told me.
Having grown up in a household where Elvis Presley music
was powerful enough to stop conversation,I have to admit I've stopped
several times just to have a look. After all , its not every day the king comes to visit Lawrenceville.Especially such a realistic version
as this. Look long enough and hard enough, and you'll swear you actually see his lip quiver.-----Chitter Chatter-Vincennes Sun Commercial.
