Artist Statement:
As long as I can remember I have been intrigued by art. My passion for art began as a child, trying to paint along with Bob Ross of “Joy of Painting”; only I would attempt it in watercolor. I never really realized just how much I enjoyed it until I was about 12. At that point art became an obsession. I wanted to learn how to use as many forms of media as possible. Those media I have learned to love include graphite, charcoal, conte’, pastels, acrylic paint, oil paint, watercolor, ceramics, photography, pumpkin carving, graphic design, printmaking, and even a little sculpture. Following the same path as the media I choose to use, my subject matter for each piece tends to vary as well. I do spend a good share of my time with portraits and landscapes though. With the support of my family and friends, I pursued and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Art and Design and Advertising from Iowa State University in 2001.
