Artist Statement for Bengt Holgerson

There are many more images, including some drawings and paintings, yet to be uploaded here. I am also pleased to accept commissions, even for photgraphic work. If you see anything in this work with my models which gives you an idea don't be shy about asking me to carry your fantasy into reality. If I can do it I will. Ask away..

Also, if you dont see the size or medium you want just ask, it may be possible

As you can see these pictures are in a variety of styles with a variety of themes. I like sometimes to give the impression of the camera having caught something in progress, something that is happening whether the camera is there or not. In some pictures that has actually been the case. I dont like the surface of the picture to be overworked or too controlled, I think this always gives too much a sense of the photographer and his big camera standing over things, staging and shaping the whole thing! I dont think the personality of a photographer can be so interesting that we want to see it imposed on everything he points his camera at! Hopefully these pictures capture fragments of a few intriguing lives, a private world glimpsed here, but not examined or even exposed, we (the viewers) are not guests and not the hosts, we are just passing by.
I hope there is captured here an eroticism that belongs to the subjects, not to a staged and manicured photographic surface.
In my view this technique gives breathing space both to the subjects of the pictures and to the viewer, - I think its more fun that way!

If you have any comments or questions, no matter what they are, please go ahead and leave a message or email. Its always interesting to hear a response, and an artist ( or maker of photographs) has always to remain openminded or the game is over!
Thank you for looking
