What I draw in my sketchbook or see in my head.
Still the most exciting art experience I have had was walking with my cousin thru Christo and Jeanne- Claude's "The Gates" installation in Central Park, NY. |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I remember that by the third grade I had narrowed my future careers down to four and only four!
ARTIST
Waitress
COWGIRL
Teacher
I've worked 3 out of the 4 jobs.
Teaching was cool, I REALLY miss being a waitress and the horse career well... one day maybe:)

| Your Personal Biography |
I am an only child. My best friend throughout my childhood was a very tolerant Schnauzer named Cocoa Krispies.
Our worst enemy was Sox, the meanest cat alive.
I was born in Crosby, Minnesota.
My fathers job often moved our family to new places and so we...
Moved to Houston, Texas
Moved to Long Island, NY.
Moved to Happy Canyon, Colorado.
Moved to Ridgewood, New Jersey.
Moved to Brainerd, Minnesota.
Emily, Minnesota
When I turned 18 and was free to stay in one place moving was already a habit and so in keeping with the family tradition I....
moved to Grand Forks to attend the University of North Dakota to study art. After earning a BFA from UND I decided I wanted to be a teacher.
So I moved to Saint Paul, MN and earned a Primary Montessori Teaching Degree.
I was then hired and moved into a cool apartment complex with swimming pool on Mill Avenue in Tempe, Arizona.
Ms. Nimi at Marina Montessori in Phoenix, AZ gave me the opportunity to be lead Directress to 35 wonderful children, NOT kids! As I was informed "Ms Holly we are NOT kids, kids are baby goats."
I loved teaching however decided to go back to art.
I moved to Boston to attend the Art Institute of Boston and get a degree in Illustration.
Boston is the best city I have ever lived in!
First I lived in Harvard Square. Next I moved to a junky loft in Downtown Boston. My place was above a Taco Shop, near Macys. It was a convenient location because I also worked as a Bridal Consultant for Macys. Next I moved to my favorite Boston home on West Cedar Street in Beacon Hill.
While living in Beacon Hill I worked at the Caswells Gallery on Charles Street. This is a great place to work, wonderful people to work for, plus they have a very cool wide selection of art to choose from and they also do very nice framing jobs.
Then suddenly, out of the blue, while taking a summer vacation to visit my parents and family in Emily, Minnesota I met the Dream Man. I was living in Boston and he was living in San Diego. , but fortunately we were born in the same hospital in Crosby, MN and had both lived in Brainerd so we had lots to talk about. Several plane rides, lots of cell phone "dates" plus the end of his Navy service led to me...
one year later saying goodbye to Boston and moving back to Minnesota to say "you betcha" to the Dream Man.
6 months later we moved to Lyndhurst, New Jersey before FINALLY finding an apartment near Prospect Park in Brooklyn.
Brooklyn is fine but I am still missing Boston. |
