Artist Statement for Iana Sophia
|
|
|
Iana Sophia's art pulsates between the seen and envisioned, the figurative and abstract. Inspired by a mystical sensitivity and an appreciation of nature, these paintings draw the viewer into a place of contemplation, where the secrets of the work begin to unfold.
Iana Sophia is a painter in oil and watercolor, originally from the Czech Republic, she has been creating and showing her work in small, independent local venues in the Boston Metro area. The work shown here is taken from the cycles "Ethereal Landscapes", "Atmospheres" "Sehnsucht" and "Villages" created between 2002 and 2008.
