Artist Statement for Toni Hudson
|
|
|
I’ve been drawing with pencil since I was 10, but in 1995 I discovered working with other media; drawing with charcoal, drawing on glass, painting on ceramics, paper, canvas, stone, working with oils, acrylics and ink. I embrace with true seriousness a purpose of the true meaning of life as I continue to intensely and passionately paint the world around me. My vision is about all aspects of life of which I show a multitude of talents, people say. Most of my work is figurative, in which the attitudes and postures of my subjects are exaggerated. I design my own personal jewelry and hand paint my own designs on ceramic dinnerware and unfinished sinks.
I like to think of myself as kind of generous, theatrical, intense, colorful, playful and crazy about making something great in my life happen. Providing the viewer a visual feast of color, light, and dark and simple texture and clean lines makes me happy to be alive. My dream is to be able to share my art with other people, which would truly fulfill a long-time dream.
