Artist Statement:
My work in the last year-and-a-half has represented the coming together of the styles & experimentation I've concrentrated on for a long time. I have influences that include: Kurt Schwitters, Antoni Tapies, Jean Tinguely, Pablo Picasso. Others I appreciate include: Andy Goldsworthy, David Nash, Marc Chagall, Jackson Pollock etc. Pretty varied, but somehow linked in my head.
I have always been inspired by destruction as a form of creation, and hence my recent collage/constructions are images based on the natural deterioration of our man-made surroundings. Alongside this, I have been making art that includes clocks. I enjoy the use of moving parts, and expect to expand on this in the future.
Currently, I am enjoying a study of medieval art (Northern Renaissance) and am keen on relating this style to issues concerning us today....
