Artist Statement:
I am fascinated by the patterns of nature, and want to capture my impression of those patterns in my paintings. The patterns can be made up of flowers, leaves, roots, even amoebal forms but I look at the lines and colors more than what they represent. I don´t want to copy nature, but create a new form of life from the lifeless materials I work with; paint, canvas and brush. I often use the camera as a sketching tool, capturing clips from nature that I can reassemble at will to create a fabricated natural pattern....

INGIBJORG HAUKSDOTTIR
Professional Biography
Internationally known painter, Ingibjorg Hauksdottir, currently stands out as one of Iceland’s most talented native artists; she skillfully captures images and translates the figurative representation of static, concrete objects onto canvas. With her brush she transcends language and culture to convey the metaphors inherent in the natural world.
Bringing visual enjoyment to her global patrons and audiences, Ingibjorg currently resides in California. With the sun, sea, flowers, leaves, and trees surrounding her, she combines her unique visionary outlook along with her skillful talents with paint and brush to create unique, striking designs that convey the beauty, symbol, color, and play of pattern in nature. Leveraging complimentary talents with the camera as a sketch tool, she reassembles a stationary instant into a lasting, moving moment of life, light, and delight on canvas.
Previous to her time in the United States, Ingibjorg began her career in Iceland and also had shows in Norway and Spain. Her works have been displayed at multiple solo and joint exhibitions at private and public galleries, businesses, restaurants, and festivals including the Reykjavik Arts Festival. Ingibjorg Hauksdottir studied under Bragi Asgeirsson, Kristjan Davidsson, Jón Axel Björnsson, Linda Yaven, and Jonathan Burke and at various schools including the University of Iceland, Otis Art Institute of Parson’s School of Design, the Laguna Art Institute and the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts
