Artist Statement for Ingibjorg Hauksdottir

|
I am fascinated by the patterns of nature, and want to capture my impression of those patterns in my paintings. The patterns can be made up of flowers, leaves, roots, even amoebal forms but I look at the lines and colors more than what they represent. I donīt want to copy nature, but create a new form of life from the lifeless materials I work with; paint, canvas and brush. I often use the camera as a sketching tool, capturing clips from nature that I can reassemble at will to create a fabricated natural pattern.
