Artist Statement:
Most of my sculptures are made
from Irish Bog Wood that is
thousands of years old. Most
of this wood is Oak. It can
also be found in Yew and Pine
but this wood is less common.
This Bog Wood was formed
during the Ice Age when
forests sunk into the peat
below and has been preserved
there to this day.The Oak is
mostly black in colour.In
order to obtain this wood it
has to be dug out of the
ground. It is then cleaned and
left to dry out before I can
start any work on it.I take
great pride in being able to
take this raw material and
make it into something unique.
