Artist Statement for Roberto Ruschena

As I have an inner sense for the love of beauty, harmony, arts and creativity, I want to continue to use my artwork and photography to communicate the peaceful feeling and the beauty of our surrounding world we are visiting.

Throughout photography I want to share with you the best moments of my life: breathtaking sunsets, colorful forests, mountain streams, roaring waterfalls, colorful flowers, and other wonderful places that make us feeling the presence of God.

Photography allows me to be in contact with nature and God. I believe I have an inborn sense of balance and composition that allows me to capture a sense of relaxation and peace for the viewer.

My landscape photography is also a great inspiration for many oil paintings and oil pastels.

I have a large repertoire of photography, having traveled around the world (Europe, Africa, Asia, North America) and worked and lived in four countries in three continents.

My portfolio of more than 10,000 photographs covers the:

· snow, forests, streams, lakes and falls of the Rocky Mountains and the Alps
· steamy swamps and bayous of Louisiana
· tribal costumes and colors of the Ivory Coast
· charm of Venice and other classic European cities
· delicate architecture of Japan and Thailand
· colorful four seasons of Canada
· grace and beauty of water lilies and alpine flowers

I began taking pictures as a teen-ager and I have never been exposed to any formal photography training. My photography knowledge has been discovered and learned alone through the contact with the outdoors.

I travel often to be in contact with the silence of nature, to allow myself to be taken over by impulse and instinct, using my trained eye to capture the beauty that surrounds me.
