Artist Statement:
My paintings are a celebration
of the world around me. I
like to share with my viewer a
moment in time, and hope that
he or she will enjoy the
scenes that attracted MY
attention. As a figurative
painter, I have to finely
balance my immediate response
to the subject, with the
formal aspects of picture
making - composition, colour,
tone and technique. I search
out echoing shapes, or dynamic
angles; I carefully observe
and sometimes adjust colours
and tones in order to capture
the light and atmosphere,
which will, in turn, intensify
the mood and feeling. I am
told that my paintings are
sensitive and feeling; that
they bring light and beauty
into the world. If this is
true, I am more than
satisfied. ...
