Artist Statement:
Karin van de Walle (1964, the
Netherlands) studied at the
Academy of Arts "Sint Joost"
in Breda, Holland. She makes
ceramic sculptures with a very
personal signature and use of
material. Lately she started a
project to cast her sculptures
in bronze.
Many of the sculptures are
flashy, lusty and exuberantly
coloured.
Some of the work however, is
very serious and quiet.
Hedonism is alternated with
mysterious silent women, based
on historical pictures. The
work is characterized by a
mixure of pop-culture and
myth, it is elaborately
decorative and definitely
refreshing different. Most of
the sculptures are unique or
are made
in limited edition....
