Artist Statement:
Art is a secrection of
society, bled by those who see
the essence of what is
happening around us. Those of
us who do see life this way
are obliged to share their
visions with all who would
look. For this reason I am
consumed by painting, for it
is the painting that has
become my heartbeat. The art I
must create calls out to me
from the corners of the world,
demanding that I do not lose
the chance.
My paintings are usually done
in colors that express the
inner qualities of the person,
and not the more visible
racial tints. This draws the
eye away from skin color and
puts the focus on the amazing
uniqueness of each one of us.
In doing so, I hope to expand
the ability of individuals
from all races to look at each
other’s differences and find
beauty instead of fear.
Ethiopia's Ras Tafari said
that our allegiance should not
be to government and boundary
or border, but to the human
family which encompasses all
culture.
