Artist Statement:
Each one of my oil pastel and
color pencil paintings takes
an average of 15 or more hours
to complete for a 16x20 or
larger size. Using a special
blending technique I
developed, I am able to
achieve a smoothness to my
paintings which is not
normally evident in oil pastel
works. This is incredibly
useful for me since I paint
many people. I strive to
obtain as smooth as possible
skin tone, while still leaving
enough texture to give the
painting depth. My blending
technique allows me to place
layers upon layers of color on
top of one another, leaving
the end result a brilliant,
colorful, work of art. Upon
completion, my paintings are
sprayed with a light
protective coating. The mat
boards I use for my paintings
are heavy weight and ready to
frame. All of my paintings
should last for generations
with proper framing and care.
