Artist Statement for Jackie Alpers

|
|
My images document personal habits, rituals and beliefs. They are simple stories, exploring the reoccuring patterns of human existance. I am a partial observer, interested in the magic and mysticism in everyday life.
Though my technique may first be perceived as Reportage; constructed situations, computer manipulation and selective burning and dodging techniques may also be utilized to skew the viewers perception, creating scenes that are at the same time real and fabricated.
