Artist Statement:
Figurative art has always held my interest in drawing, painting, photography, and sculpture. While studying photography in school, I found myself struggling with how to make it correspond to my paintings and drawings. I realized that what kept me interested in photography was capturing what the subject was doing and revealing a part of them. Next to art, my biggest love is music and seeing musicians perform; the next natural step for me was to photograph them at that moment. My biggest influences are Anton Corbijn and Robert Frank, both for the way in which they portray their subject--as their own person and not what the photographer wants them to be. I hope that I have done that with my photographs and will continue to do so....
