"An art photographer, with a growing reputation for her sensual, alluring sometimes-provocative portrayal of flowers in a series of powerful portraits, captivates the viewers' senses by depicting the sheer beauty and elegance of Natural form."
Born in Devizes, England, a market town amongst beautiful countryside, my interest in photography came at the age of ten after a gift from my parents, of a Polaroid camera, “photography became fun and instant”. After a career break at the age of 28, I picked up the camera again and made the subject of my work, my surroundings, details of Nature.
A self-taught artist, I work with 35mm and medium format cameras, Pentax, Bronica and a twin lens Mamiya. My speciality is still-life of nature subjects, in particular flowers, leaves in a close-up, macro contemporary style, but also stock images of botanical shots, landscape, panoramic stock all with a fine art approach. I work from a naturally lit studio and on location, capturing nature at its most beautiful. Not only do I use traditional photography methods, where the special effects are attained using different film types, such as Scala, black and white and Provia colour, and lenses, but I also embrace the modern digital process, utilising digital darkroom; Photoshop, where creativity is at your fingertips.
I have a passion for Polaroid, working with medium and large format Polaroid sheet film, up to 10” x 8”. The fluidity of the Polaroid emulsion lift process compliments the natural flow of nature’s elements. The images have a quality great for book covers and advertising.
As a fine art photographer, my images have been licensed via a photo library for products such as prints, packaging, advertising on retail bags and merchandise, greeting cards, fine art for corporate businesses, magazines, books, leaflets. Monsoon, a UK retailer, has been using my orchid image on their bags and merchandise for two years. Also, commercially, any image, which is not represented by a photo library or publisher, would be available for licensing directly through me. Not all of my work is on the website, so if your project requires a certain flower in a particular style then please get in touch.
As I’ve had success in selling my work in galleries and art fairs, my website is now an eTrader, so the images can be purchased securely online, as prints and “ready to hang” artwork. Images can be shipped to international and national clients, all customers welcome, from single buyer to hotel chain.
I have exhibited in many galleries in England. My photo art shows an intuitive response to Nature, capturing the subject's physical and ethereal beauty. My style is contemporary and fresh, making a stand-alone statement with the bold colours and form. My flower portraits show the most delicate, fragile of subjects as larger than life characters; showing their natural power, purpose and importance. The flower is illustrated, not in a conventional way, but by searching deeper, revealing the inner Spirit, making its beauty tangible, offering to the viewer a sense of well-being.
