Artist Statement for Janet Thomas

I have always wanted to be an artist…a painter really. And I did try, I tried so hard. Finally I realized that I am just not very good at painting. Somewhere along the way I stumbled into photography. It was almost an accident. I was practically forced into the title by circumstance. The idea of being a professional photographer was daunting to me at the time. Now I look back and I realize I have always been a photographer, always been an artist. Right now I paint better with my eyes than with my hands. I am O.K. with that. Creating…capturing…sharing beauty is the important part.
