Artist Statement:
My work is abstract and
fragmented, and is based on a
way of capturing the many
layers of perception, and the
numerous physical facets,
edges, and curves that make up
an idea, object, or view.
There are two main reasons why
I create work the first is
pure escapism. A way of
creating little windows into
which one can look onto
different worlds, like seeing
rippled reflections. The
second is a self created moral
obligation to tell it how I
see it, warts and all!
One can not escape fully the
self imposed reality that
fills our senses.
I have always been interested
in Zen and the ways of seeing.
It was along this path that I
found The Rolling Mirror.
The philosophy of the Rolling
Mirror is such that you are
not required to follow blindly
or expected not to ask
questions of its ideology.
There is no higher entity to
worship. It consists merely of
simple stories that create
thought provoking questions
and views of what life is all
about. Like Aesop's Fables
there are moral conclusions
but these are by no means
based on following one
particular religion or faith.
