Artist Statement:
Figure and human form play a very important element in my work.
I constantly refer to myself. Although there are others. People I care about and people I meet. I freeze a remembered moment on canvas. Like the expression of a thought or a feeling, somebodys face, laugher, a grimace, or a body posture.
The subject which I find for my work comes from everyday life and it can be personal or about something I’ ve seen on TV or read in a newspaper. I try to expose many of our unconcious thoughts as well as some of the more uncomfortable human impulses, like envy, betrayal or humiliation.
Relationships between the characters in my pictures depict the power games we play with each other, games which end with tears as often as with laughter. They show people’s frailty and vulnerability as well as their capacity for joy or pleasure, their cruelty as well as their affection.
I tell stories of personal and cultural transformation, of fear and hope...

mostly private, Konst pa Noret, Leksand, Sweden
How to commission a portrait?
Aleksandra Jarosz Laszlo is an emerging portrait painter. Her talent for capturing the character and personality of her sitter was applauded by the National Portrait Gallery, London in the BP Portrait Award 2006.
Aleksandra undertakes each portrait commission with the very highest degree of professionalism. Aleksandra hopes to form a professional relationship with her sitter, in order to ensure that she creates a final art work that suits both her client's needs and her own artistic creativity and aesthetic.
Preferring to work from photographs that she has taken for herself Aleksandra will need one to two sittings lasting approximately 1-2 hours each. This significantly reduces the time and inconvenience to the sitter. She can either visit you at your home or office. If sittings are not at all possible she will consider working from photographs provided by the client, although these would have to be, good sized, preferably digital images. The larger the selection of photographs the better. Aleksandra will then confirm the final composition with the commissioner before beginning the artwork.. She will begin working on your portrait once she is satisfied that she has a thorough understanding of your character and appearance.
Each commission will take approximately between 4-8 weeks to complete although this time will vary depending upon the client's specifications and the artist's schedule.
Aleksandra works predominantly in oil and acrylic but will undertake portrait commissions in pastels. Her prices correlate to size and composition, see below for a rough guide.

In most cases, the artist will travel to your location and may stay for a day or more. Travel and accommodation costs are included within Europe. In most cases two to three instalments including the initial deposit are required for the commission. The final instalment will be paid on completion.
