Artist Statement for Art Jatto
|
|
|
Jatto draws on her extensive travel experiences to create landscapes using pastel and charcoal. Her travels have taken her all over Europe and the Mediterranean, including Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Malta and France. Her resulting artwork is not representative of a single country or town but rather a representation of the archetypical landscape of these pictoric regions. Warm reds, oranges, yellows and browns bring to mind a warm summer’s day in Tuscany or the interior of Spain, while cool blues, pinks, greens and purples are reminiscent of a pleasant afternoon or evening. Jatto’s intention is to evoke a sentiment of carefree relaxation and the enjoyment of experiencing these scenic places.
