Artist Statement:
This work is in many ways an
inquiry. Where is the
separation between body, mind
and soul? How does the
inherently temporary nature of
the body affect mind and soul?
Even the strongest body is
subject to injury, sickness
and death. Despite how
separate we can feel from our
bodies when they fail us, we
are bound to and accountable
for them. Why is it that
after death we box, bury,
incinerate or entomb our
bodies? Soulless they’re
threatening. Still, the body
has no malicious intent.
That’s why we worship our
bodies, obsess over and
delight in them. They’re our
innocent keepers, carrying us
from birth to death....
