Artist Statement for James Egbert
James Egbert has become a well known and published fine art nature photographer, teacher and writer. He still travels throughout Colorado, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Wyoming to capture the natural wonder and beauty of nature. With formal training from the US Navy in Photojournalism, James continued his formal education at Baylor University and the University of California, Berkeley with an emphasis in Performing Arts Education and Theatre. James never strayed too far from his passion of photography and eventually worked as a studio photographer and location photographer in a wide variety of capacities. Never the less it was the call of the wild that pulled James back to his roots of Colorado and Nature Photography.
James has been a co-instructor for Rocky Mountain Reflections Photography Workshops with noted photographers Andy Cook and Richard Norman. James still leads and instructs photography workshops for Through The Eye Of The Beholder Photography Workshops & Safaris.
As a teacher James strives to convey the importance of our most fragile resource of Mother Nature. Through his endless energy for teaching the art of photography James has helped countless new photographers grow and excel in the craft through his ongoing workshops run throughout Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico.
James is a 3rd generation Colorado Springs Native and currently live just east of Colorado Springs with his wife Rebecca and children.
"When I was a much younger and first heard the voice and words of John Denver singing about his love of Colorado, I was filled with a strong affection for the natural beauty of Colorado. When I read about many of his personal environmental projects I knew then I had a mission to capture on film the same beauty and expose the world to what John was singing about. I hope you enjoy this collection of my photography and find a place in your home to share it in."
