Artist Statement for Jennifer Harwell
|
|
|
Jennifer considers herself to have been an artist all of her life. Growing up on the West Coast surrounded by visual
grandeur and an artistic family she began innately
developing a passion for art. As an artist Jennifer has been recognized for her mosaic garden art as well as hundreds of angels and crosses fashioned from "found" slate, granite andtile. In the search to grow as an artist she overcame a classic artist block known as the "shadow artist", broke the spell between artist and brush and has painted passionatley and prolifically ever since. Her style is dramatic with liberal use of bold color, texture and light using acrylics and mixed mediums. Her wide exploration of subject matter includes nudes, abstracts,her recent angel series and studies of various Impressionist's works.
Jennifer owns her studio/gallery located in the heart of historic Homewood, Al., where she can be found daily at her easel painting. Jennifer also teaches hundreds of students each week to paint in her studio/gallery. Her website is www.jenniferharwellart.com.
