Artist Statement:
Working with gemstones, pearls, gold, platinum & sterling... I've been awarded with an Alpha Award by Fashion Group International. In addition to operating an online boutique, www.jennsjewels.com, I have worked as the in-house jeweler for Dolce Jewels in Telluride. I am now selling my work through select galleries and have been commissioned to design a line of jewelry for Tony Newlin's Wilderness Wonders - photographic galleries.
The opportunity to study jewelry design and metalsmithing appeared several years after finishing a B.A. in Communications at Ripon College in WI. My education initially led me to Chicago, where I pursued a career in p.r. and non-profit event planning. Yet the architecture and mystique of New Orleans called me in 1992 and this is where I discovered my passion for metalsmithing. I was very fortunate to apprentice and work under artists Merry Pierce Lowrey, Thomas Mann and Margo Manning before venturing out with my own designs.
Today I live and work in beautiful South Western Colorado, where I continue to develop my metalsmithing skills and have worked with several fine jewelry designers. My upbringing in Madison, Wisconsin and artistic experiences in New Orleans continue to influence my ...
