Artist Statement:
I'm a self-taught artist living near Philadelphia with my family. I started drawing and coloring when I was very young. Some of my most cherished memories are those with my grandfather, who used to draw a squiggle or line on a scrap of paper and tell me to create something out of it. After family dinner get-togethers, I spent many hours sitting on the floor beside him and his great brown armchair. My grandmother, Mimi, painted beautiful pictures. She was a talented artist and still serves as inspiration for me today.
I am self-taught, although, I did take an art class in high school. I didn't like art class. The creativity was forced, there were too many rules, too many technical principles to follow. I believe art, the creation of something, is freedom. I believe if you want to paint a daisy purple, then you go ahead and make it so. If in your world, daisies are purple, then paint them that way.
I like art that is rich in color, somewhat primitive and expressive. I love imperfect art full of colors that convey a feeling, story, or make an impression. I can find a ...
