Artist Statement:
These photographs depict a
moment in the evolution of our
urban environment as it decays
through time. Vibrant colours
and textures reveal a beauty
to which we are often
oblivious.
I started taking photos of
urban decay in the Spring of
2000. While exploring the
downtown alleys looking for
graffiti, my attention started
to drift to the designs I saw
in rusted metal, scratches,
peeling paint, and corroding
concrete. The colours and
shapes made in collaboration
between man and nature
inspired me to capture them on
film.
