After graduating from high school in Traverse City, Michigan in 1999 Jess moved to Bozeman, Montana to attend Montana State University and enjoy the Rocky Mountains. He received his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design in 2004. During his last semester as an undergraduate he received first place in an international design competition in Helena, Montana which lead him to work for Dowling Architects as an intern to complete the project. After working in Helena for six months he returned to Montana State University to complete his studies. During his graduate school Jess helped design and then build an addition to the Gallatin Valley Food Bank, also learned and still loves woodworking with hand tools. His thesis focus was on Ecological Design where he designed a self sustaining museum in Miami Beach, Florida. He received his Masters in Architecture in the fall of 2006 from Montana State University. On October 23, 2006 he passed his test making him a LEED Accredited Professional. Jess being with Kath Williams + Associates since fall 2005 has been involved with twelve national and international LEED project ranging from documentation, documentation review, research, project administration, problem solving, graphic design, web design, and education.
