Reviews for Johann Eyfells:

Jóhann Eyfells

“The son of a noted Icelandic landscape painter, Eyjólfur Eyfells, Jóhann was born in 1923. He graduated from the Commercial College of Iceland in 1941. Four years later he went to study architecture, painting and sculpture at the University of California in Berkeley and the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. In 1950 he moved to Florida, where in 1953 he graduated in architecture (B.Arch.) from the University of Florida in Gainesville. In 1964, he took the Master of Fine Arts degree from the same university, having been a graduate assistant in sculpture there in 1962-63. In 1964, he moved to Iceland, where he taught sculpture, three-dimensional design, advertising design and figure drawing at the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts in Reykjavik. Jóhann's first one-man exhibition was held on Long Island, New York in 1958, followed by three one-man shows in Reykjavik (1961, 1964, and 1968) and one in the North Wing Gallery at the University of Florida in 1964. In 1960 -- 1963, he took part in several group exhibitions in the Southern United States, and in 1962 -- 1968, participated in many group exhibitions in Iceland as well as exhibitions of Scandinavian art in Denmark, Norway, West Germany, Sweden, and East Germany. His works are to be found in the State Gallery of Iceland, the Hanover City Museum in West Germany and in many private collections. He has served on several juries, both in the field of architecture and sculpture.”
