Artist Statement for Jaime Hesper

Artist’s Statement
Visual art that conveys mood and emotion interests me most. In order to express a certain emotion I use a limited pallet and rely on the intensity and depth of the color I am working with. Flattened space, achieved by working from my own photographs, and texture also add to the expression while allowing for a certain degree of mystery and, at times, a more ambiguous emotion.
I work with a variety of media; however my paintings are predominantly oil paint on canvas. The collage work uses a mixture of media including acrylic paint, photography, charcoal, and found objects. Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, whether creating or studying and appreciating it. I draw a great deal of inspiration from my studies and travel. I have a Bachelor of Art degree from The Ohio State University where I studied History of Art. I also have an Associate of Applied Science from Columbus State Community College where I majored in Graphic Design. My work is available for purchase by contacting me at jjam76@hotmail.com.
